Managing Waste with Eneco

The Proton Foundation is working with Eneco to develop and offer Waste Management Solutions for municipal, provincial and federal governments within Eurasia.

Globally, awareness is growing to the dangers and inefficiencies of using landfill for waste disposal for ecological, fiscal and social reasons. The ecological degradation has grave social impacts as most of us are aware of by recent global warming publicity, furthermore, in many countries landfills have become a dangerous home and work-place for the impoverished. Using environmentally friendly, cutting-edge technology we are removing the need for landfill site and will, as a direct bi-product of the process, produce energy, drinking water via condensation or desalination, steam for industrial uses, algae for bio-diesel and even the production of food products. We are fully committed to creating environmentally, socially and fiscally responsible solutions.

D. Palmer Boyd, a friend and partner of the Proton Foundation has signed contracts to build, own and operate waste to energy projects in Wloclawek, Poland; and Drogobich, Ukraine. Both projects will cost between $20-$25m US. This will give the Proton Foundation first-hand experience of moving in this direction as we work closely with President and CEO of Cha 'Balthasar Services Ltd with which future projects will be implemented through a close partnership.

These projects will include the treatment of 100 tonnes per day of Municipal solid waste, the generation of 4 MWH of firm electricity from this renewable energy source, the production and sale of 34 gj/hr of steam energy, an aquaponics project that will farm fish and vegetables together and the growth and sale of algae for bio-diesel. Revenues are expected to be about $6.5m in Poland and 25% less in Ukraine. The earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation allowance will be around $4.5m and Net revenues are expected to be between $1.2-1.5m per annum. Financing proposals have been made and soon the special purpose Companies will be set up in the two countries. Poland may also in the future be the site of several other projects, as other negotiations are underway. We have also set Slovakia, the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania and elsewhere in Poland as potential locations for the next wave of 'waste to energy' projects.

In each of the projects, our companies are designing and providing an educational program for children and adults about ecological responsibility and environmental protection and development.
