New Charitable Status for the Proton Foundation
The signs are that the Proton Foundation is coming to maturity and is being recognised by independent bodies now in the UK, Canada and more recently the USA; where we have seen the application and approval of the Proton Foundation in all three jurisdictions.
The first one to be achieved was the Proton Foundation in Canada back in 2007. After elongated discussions with the UK charity commission, because of the diversity and activities of the foundation it was finally approved to have charitable status as well as becoming a not for profit organisation.
In more recent weeks the Proton Foundation has received approval from the Federal government in the USA that we now have a classified 501 status where all gifts by North American tax givers can be tax deductable. This is a huge step forward again because of the uniqueness of what the foundation is trying to achieve to receive this status has been a huge help and will undoubtedly bring greater momentum as we move forward.
We are already currently dialoguing with various independent charities, not for profit organisations and churches in how best we can partner and assist local community and social orientated projects within various cities in the USA.
Bill Howell and the US Proton Foundation have done a huge job to move this agenda forward. We have exciting days ahead.
