About Randy Sohnchen

Randy was born in Windsor Ontario and has lived in five different provinces in Canada. He moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1967, living there for 17 years and considers Saskatoon the place that he came from. Kamloops, British Columbia was home from 1984-1989. Kelowna, British Columbia has been home for the past 17 years.

Randy has a diverse business background. He has been involved in a variety of entrepreneurial enterprises including farming, construction, land development, an 18 location franchise weight loss clinic, food distribution, and was the director of a non-profit Global Missions, Relief and Development organization.

Following his completion of high school, Randy was involved in several businesses including farming and building moving. The building moving business grew to include several partners and expanded into land development, commercial construction, building of custom homes. Following the recession of 1982-84 the construction business was wound up.

Randy purchased a small food distribution business located in Kamloops, British Columbia in 1984. This was sold in 1987. Proceeds were used to start a franchise weight loss centre for Nutri System Weight Loss Centres in Saskatoon on January 2, 1988. By 1990, this endeavor grew to include 18 centres ( 2 in Saskatoon, 3 in Regina, 10 in the Edmonton area and 3 in Calgary ), 330 staff and annual revenues of $18 million. This business was sold Dec. 31, 1991.

Several small land development projects were undertaken from 1992-1997.
During the same period, Randy was an investor in a small take-out delivery pizza franchise ( Breadeaux Pizza ) located in Kelowna.

Commencing in October 1997, Randy consulted full time to a national relief, development and missionary organization, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. In 1999, he became the Executive Director for Global Missions for the PAOC. In this role, Randy traveled internationally for 100 days in the year, facilitating and supporting the work of hundreds of missionaries and indigenous people in the development of orphanages, HIV initiatives, church planting strategies, educational opportunities and response to people in crisis. This assignment concluded in June 2004.

From Feb. 2005 to June 2006, Randy assisted Medican Construction Ltd, a mid-size land developer based in Medicine Hat, Alberta ( www.medican.com ) in accomplishing the pre development work required to bring several major projects to market. Randy, in conjunction with a partner, is also currently completing a 25 unit condominium project in White Rock, British Columbia.

Randy continues to serve a variety of interests in North America and overseas. Randy is married to Judy and has four children, Becky, Rachel, David and Stephanie, a daughter-in-law Kelsey, a son-in-law Corey and a grandson Noah.
